45 art-creative found a new homeland.

Painters, sculptors, photographers and also two glass artists drew now into the studio house, which rented the city Duesseldorf on a long-term basis. All age groups are represented. Usually the artists and artist at the academy of arts studied Duesseldorf. Scholarship holders of the Düsseldorfer of art association receive likewise a job in the studio house rolling mill route.

The new artist center in rice wood offers ideal conditions. Work spaces but also storage spaces, for which there is a large demand in Duesseldorf, are not only available at the rolling mill route. Outwardly the house moulted itself much, it received a nearly sky-blue painting, parts of the building in ultramarinblau was painted, so that the studio house visibly falls far away in the eye.

The infrastructure in rice wood is good for the artists. The location rolling mill route can be attained with the rapid-transit railway in approximately ten minutes from the main station. The connection to the motorway is close, and which liked adjacent handle route still another urban structure such as artist it.

For the first time the artists and artist in the studio house become on the occasion of the action “points of art” in August (weekend 18. /19. August) of the public present.

Seven further studios are finished at present and can be rented starting from 1 September. For interested artists there are inspection dates, which can be agreed upon under telephone 0211/89 96110 (Karin Rauers). The studios are assigned preferentially at graduates of the academy of arts.

The supply of studio area has in 
Duesseldorf a long tradition, because by the academy of arts always possibilities for employment 
for artists to be inquired. In the context of the artist promotion the city has again and again

At present there are approximately 370 urban studios, which are however hardly sufficient to cover the need at payable studio area. 
Because in Duesseldorf about 1,800 artists and artist live, and the “niches” on the free property market become ever rare.

Therefore the offer of the owner, who already put on a long-term basis the studio house at the Lierenfelder road to the city at the disposal, with the former Leitz factory straight came correctly. 

In the Düsseldorfer city center there are less and less the suitable premises and in such a way evades the artists, as for instance in Paris or Tokyo, also increasingly to former industrial buildings of the outlying districts.
